Every winter I sat down with seed catalogues, a notebook and a spreadsheet that never quite worked. Which flowers should I grow? When should the sweet peas go in so they flower before the heat? How many seeds should I order, once I allow for the ones that never come up? And which bed has room for the dahlias in week 20?
I grow on just 120 square metres of beds, and in our first season they produced more than 20,000 stems. That only happened because every bed was planned with care, but working it all out by hand took weeks, and one change meant starting the sums again.
Seed To Stem is the planner I wished I had. I'm making it free, because small local growers deserve the same planning help as the big farms.
